Orthopedic Doctors Williamstown, MA
At Northern Berkshire Orthopedics, all four of our orthopedic doctors are board certified, so you can be assured you are seeing the most highly skilled physicians. We have three orthopedic surgeons and one doctor who specializes in non-surgical sports medicine. In addition, several of our doctors are associate team physicians for the University of Massachusetts, Williams College, and Southern Vermont College.

Suk Namkoong, MD
Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Suk Namkoong attended Princeton University for his undergraduate education, earning a bachelor of science in 1994. He went on to earn his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in 1998.
Dr. Namkoong completed a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was awarded Resident of the Year. He also received fellowship training in sports medicine at New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases from 2003 to 2004. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Ivette Guttmann, MD
Non-Surgical Sports Medicine
Dr. Ivette Guttmann earned her medical degree at Universidad Autonoma de Centro America in Costa Rica and completed the pediatrics residency training program at San Juan City Hospital in Puerto Rico in 2012. In addition, she completed fellowship training in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Albany Medical Center in New York in 2013. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Florida State University and an associate’s degree from Miami-Dade Community College in 1994. She is board certified by the American Board for both Pediatrics and Primary Care Sports Medicine.
David Veltre, MD
Hand Surgeon
Dr. David Veltre earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts and his master’s in biomedical engineering from Cornell University in New York. He graduated with a bachelor’s in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Cornell in 2004.
After having completed both an orthopedic research residency and an orthopedic surgery residency at Boston University Medical Center, he served a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and MetroHealth Medical Center in Ohio.
Paul Donovan, DO
Emergency Medicine and Non-Surgical Sports Medicine
Dr. Paul Donovan is an osteopathic doctor (DO) who specializes in non-surgical orthopedic and sports medicine care. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) with a certificate of added qualification in sports medicine. He is an honors graduate of the University of Vermont and earned his osteopathic degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University.
Dr. Donovan completed a three-year emergency medicine residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Orthopedic Specialty Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1994. He has been the US Freestyle Ski Team physician since 1993.
Dr. Donovan holds several positions in the Northern Berkshire area, including medical director of the emergency department at North Adams Regional Hospital and assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts department of emergency medicine.
